5 companies UPMC is investing in

Pittsburgh-based UPMC is one of the largest health systems in the country and has made notable investments through its venture capital arm.

Here are five investments made by UPMC since November 2021:

 

  1. UPMC Enterprises backed health data company Smile Digital Health in a $30 million series B investment round.
  2. The Pittsburgh-based health system joined in a $65 million funding round for Redesign Health, a company that launches healthcare startups.
  3. UPMC Enterprises participated in a $12.5 million funding round for Abridge, an artificial intelligence company that aims to reduce clinician burnout. 
  4. The health system invested $40 million into portfolio company Novasenta, a biotech company that develops antibody-based therapeutics.
  5. UPMC Enterprises joined in a $10 million series B funding round for BrainCheck, an Alzheimer’s screening company.
