Measles cases matches 2023 numbers: CDC

Fifty-eight cases of measles have been reported in the first quarter of 2024, the same number of total cases in 2023, the CDC reported.

Here are three updates:

1. As of March 14, the CDC confirmed 58 cases, up from 45 reported last week. The total measles cases confirmed in 2023 was 58.

2. No new states have reported cases. Currently, cases are confirmed in these 17 states:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • New York 
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia
  • Washington 

3. Chicago alone reported 12 cases, with Florida following with the next highest level of cases at 10, according to USA Today.
