The nurses say Beaumont changed a union supporter’s job duties to separate her from other nurses, threatened to withdraw favorable working conditions for unionized employees and forbid employees to talk about unions, among other violations. The Michigan Nurses Association supports the charge.
“We do not believe there is any merit to those allegations,” Susan Grant, executive vice president and chief nursing officer for Beaumont Health, told The Detroit News. She said the health system has not yet received the complaint, adding that some Beaumont service workers are unionized and several executive leaders are nurses.
Another charge filed June 14 accuses the Michigan Nurses Association of coercing employees, according to the National Labor Relations Board, but union spokesperson Roger Kerson said the union has not received the complaint.
