PeaceHealth layoffs prompt hiring from other labs: 3 things to know

Lab employees who may reportedly lose their jobs at Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth have various other work opportunities nearby, The Register-Guard reports.

Here are three things to know about the hiring opportunities.

1. Last month, Madison, N.J.-based Quest Diagnostics and PeaceHealth announced plans for Quest to take over management responsibilities for 11 PeaceHealth outreach laboratory services operations. The new contract could affect roughly 500 jobs.

2. Corvallis, Ore.-based Samaritan Health Services said in the report they plan to hire phlebotomists in the coming months. Portland, Ore.-based Legacy Laboratory Services also plans to hire additional employees at its Eugene, Ore., location, the report states. Legacy Laboratory officials said the company will host a job fair Tuesday.

3. Kristina Payne, executive director of the Lane Workforce Partnership, a Eugene-based workforce development agency, told The Register-Guard "there are opportunities, people are interested and conversations are starting."
