Harrison Medical Center workers picket over staffing

Workers represented by UFCW 21 picketed Wednesday outside of Harrison Medical Center-Silverdale (Wash.), according to the Kitsap Sun.

UFCW 21, which represents employees such as service and dietary workers, professional-technical workers, pharmacists and nurses, said in a picket announcement the workers are advocating for safe staffing.

The picket comes as the workers seek labor deals with the hospital's parent company, Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health, according to the report. The picket also comes as CHI Franciscan Health plans to build a $500 million replacement hospital in Silverdale. The facility would replace Harrison Medical Center's hospital in Bremerton, Wash.
