Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., is buying The Westerly Hospital in a deal that will close later this month. The layoffs are a “necessary” part of the acquisition, as L+M restructures positions at The Westerly Hospital, according to the report.
The layoffs did not affect any clinical positions. The ownership deal is not expected to cause any further workforce reductions, according to the report.
