KU Health and Ardent Health announced their plans to join forces to takeover St. Francis in May, and the two organizations are working toward finalizing the deal.

Most recently, the Shawnee County Commission approved $90 million in revenue bonds for the project Monday, according to the report, which cites a cost-benefit analysis. The Topeka Capital Journal reports the revenue bonds would be used to invest in hospital improvements and add the 687 expected new jobs over the next decade.

The name of the joint venture is Topeka Health System. However, a KU Health spokesperson told WIBW St. Francis has not yet been renamed.
