The contract, which expires in 2020, covers more than 600 workers represented by Service Employees International Union Healthcare 1199NW. This includes nursing assistants as well as dietary and housekeeping staff, among others.
In addition to across-the-board raises and a $15-per-hour minimum wage, the contract also includes “health benefit security” and “staffing and quality improvements,” union officials said in a news release.
Dana Vandewege, human resources director for Providence in Southwest Washington said in an emailed statement to Becker’s Hospital Review: “Providence is committed to offering competitive wages and benefits to all caregivers. We are pleased to have settled this contract and will continue to focus on our mission of compassionate service to our community.”
