More than 200 nurses at three Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health locations have filed for two union elections with the National Labor Relations Board, according to a Sept. 3 news release from the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals shared with Becker’s.
Nurses at Jefferson Bucks Hospital in Langhorne, Pa., filed Sept. 3 to form an independent local within PASNAP, in a unit of 170 full-time, part-time and per diem registered nurses, NLRB records show.
Nurses at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital’s Center One facility and Willowcrest building filed Aug. 31 to join the existing PASNAP bargaining unit at the hospital, NLRB records show. That unit covers 43 registered nurses and nurse practitioners.
The union said nurses cited staffing levels, workloads and a desire for more input on patient care decisions as their reasons for organizing.
A Jefferson spokesperson said in a statement to Becker’s that the system remains focused on supporting its nurses, caring for patients and meeting the healthcare needs of the communities it serves.
PASNAP represents more than 11,000 nurses and allied professionals in Pennsylvania, including about 1,200 at Jefferson Einstein Hospital, who ratified a new contract earlier in 2026. Nurses at Lower Bucks Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in Bucks County are also represented by the union.
Election dates have not been set.
