Johns Hopkins helps employees afford home down payments

Johns Hopkins University & Health System in Baltimore offered residents home-buying grants worth $36,000 to help employees purchase homes through its Live Near Your Work program, according to the system’s website.

About 45 Hopkins employees secured homes through the program’s home-buying event Sept. 10. Employees put down payments on homes in the EagerPark neighborhood, within walking distance of the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore Medical Campus.

“Johns Hopkins’ Live Near Your Work program is about helping to make homeownership affordable for our employees and building strong communities here in BaltimoreCity,” JHU President Ronald Daniels said in a prepared statement.

Homeowners can move in starting in 2017.
