Hospitals add 4k jobs in April

The healthcare industry added 19,500 jobs last month, contributing to the nation’s overall 211,000 new jobs in April, according to the most recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Within the healthcare industry, ambulatory healthcare services employment grew the most last month, adding 14,200 jobs. Hospital employment grew by 4,200 jobs.

Healthcare job growth in April is consistent with the industry’s average monthly job growth in the first quarter of 2017, according to the BLS. However, it is below the average growth of 32,000 new jobs per month that BLS reported last year.
