Holzer Health System creates new police department

Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System has formed a police department for its Gallipolis and Jackson hospitals and the Meigs Emergency Facility in an effort to ramp up security and ensure safety, according to My Daily Sentinel.

The 11-person police department was officially implemented Jan. 1, according to the report.

According Karrie Davison, Holzer Health System’s communications coordinator, the newly created police force is taking proactive steps to increase safety for all of the hospital’s visitors and employees.

The police officers are employees of the Holzer Police Department and commissioned through the state of Ohio.
