Technological advances have brought a plethora of new job titles, such as web designer, chief analytics data science officer, marketing technologist and social media director.

And even more of these new titles are expected to come about in the next two decades as the work landscape continues to evolve, according to a report on Monster.com.

Here are three healthcare jobs that could exist in the future, as outlined by Monster.

1. Medical mentor. This person might contact patients after a physician appointment to make sure the patient follows through on recommendations about exercise, nutrition or medication, and help the patient overcome any challenges impeding their success, according to the report. “We didn’t have physician assistants and nurse practitioners years ago, and now multiple roles will continue to emerge,” Jim Lebret, assistant professor of medicine and clinical innovation at NYU Medical Center and director of code team leaders at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, told Monster.

2. Personal medical interpreter. According to the report, providers may end up becoming individualized coaches or advocates who can provide patients with information about individualized medical treatments. Futurist Madeline Ashby told Monster she envisions super-specialized positions such as interpreter for a new gene-editing tool called clustered regularly-interspaced short palindromic repeats.

3. End-of-life coach. This person would be able to help people explore their personal values and medical options so they can spend their last weeks and months the way they want to, according to the report. “Right now, there’s a lot of excessive treatment at the end of someone’s life,” Mr. Lebret told Monster. “In the next few years, there will be a massive shift toward people wanting to add more life to their days, instead of days to their life.”
