Marietta, Ga.-based Wellstar Health System has completed its acquisition of Mountain Lakes Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Clayton, Ga., according to an Aug. 10 health system news release shared with Becker’s.
The hospital is now Wellstar Mountain Lakes Medical Center and the 12th hospital in the system. The deal closed after the conclusion of regulatory requirements and customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“From our earliest conversations, it was clear that Mountain Lakes Medical Center was a special organization with a talented team, deep community roots and tremendous potential,” Wellstar President and CEO Ketul Patel said in the release. “Completing this acquisition marks an important milestone in our shared commitment to build on the hospital’s strong foundation and create new possibilities for patients, clinicians and communities in the region.”
The acute care hospital, which has a level 4 trauma center, serves Rabun County and surrounding northeast Georgia communities. Wellstar is taking a phased approach to integration and said in June that it intends to retain Mountain Lakes’ current employees.
