Verdugo Hills Hospital Enters Merger Talks With USC's Keck Medical Center

Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, Calif., has entered into merger talks with the University of Southern California's Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to a Cañada Valley Sun report.

A merger with Keck Medical Center could offer Verdugo Hills greater bulk purchasing power and administrative and information technology networks, while Keck Medical could shift routine procedures to Verdugo Hills Hospital, according to the report.

Verdugo Hills Hospital announced its interest in a merger in March. Verdugo Hills, Calif.-based Glendale Adventist Medical Center expressed interest in acquiring or merging with Verdugo at the end of March. According to the report, officials at Glendale Adventist are "disappointed" in Verdugo Hills Hospital's decision to continue talks with Keck Medical Center.

Verdugo Hills hopes to complete the merger by the end of the year.
