Valley General Hospital Restarts Merger Talks With 2 Hospitals

Valley General Hospital in Monroe, Wash., has restarted its merger discussions and is considering Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) and Evergreen Healthcare of Kirkland (Wash.) as potential partners, according to a Snohomish County News Tribune report.

Serious discussions among the hospitals are underway, and officials expect a decision within the next month, according to the report.

Valley General has been recording in the red over the past five years due to rising charity care, patient debt and declining reimbursement. A partnership could help the hospital's financial situation as well as offer it more specialists, healthcare services, new medical equipment or hospital renovations, according to the report.
