As part of the partnership, the organizations opened the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center Monday. Officials tapped Ayla Kessler, MD, to serve as medical director of the facility.
By mid-2018, cancer center patients at Salem Regional will be able to participate in local clinical trials and gain access to innovative therapies.
The revamped cancer center will also provide an educational component for patients and counseling for high-risk patients who may be more susceptible to cancer diagnoses based on various health and lifestyle factors, according to the Morning Journal.
