The commissioners initially revised the memorandum of understanding between UNC Health Care and Pardee in April to extend the agreement from 10 to 25 years. The updated agreement allows UNC Health Care to invest more into Pardee’s facilities and operations and also extends Pardee’s lease with the county for the hospital buildings and land.
The county-owned, 222-bed Pardee approved the initial affiliation agreement in June 2011. Under that agreement, UNC Health Care manages all operations of the hospital in exchange for roughly $180,000 per year.
