UMass Memorial merger set to close in next six months

Worcester-based UMass Memorial Health Care officials said they hope to close the merger between its Leominister and Clinton campuses within the next six months, according to Boston Business Journal.

Details of the merger between UMass Memorial ─ HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominister and UMass Memorial ─ Clinton will be submitted to the state department of public health next month for approval. The approval process may take anywhere from four to six months, according to the article.

The hospital in Clinton will continue to operate under its existing hospital license in the interim.

Officials said the merger would allow the system to invest and grow each hospital strategically to meet community needs, according to the article.
