Two New York Hospitals to Merge

St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y., has agreed to acquire Amsterdam Memorial Hospital for $22 million, according to a report in the Times Union.

After the voluntary merger, which is expected to be completed in May, the two institutions will operate as St. Mary’s Hospital at Amsterdam.

St. Mary’s is expected to hire a majority of Amsterdam Memorial’s staff; however, as many as 100 workers are expected to be laid off as a result of the merger.
