St. Luke’s University Health Network, Blue Mountain Health to form 9-hospital system

 
Blue Mountain Health System, a two-hospital system in Lehighton, Pa., revealed its intent to join St. Luke’s University Health Network, a seven-hospital system in Bethlehem, Pa., Sept. 13.

The proposed agreement will allow the combined entity to focus on the quality of care and to enhance the level of healthcare services available to area residents, Blue Mountain Health System officials said.

The proposed transaction was approved by the boards of trustees of both organizations, but is still subject to regulatory approval. Officials from both institutions expect to complete the transaction by the end of the year.
