Sparrow Health System, Michigan Medicine sign affiliation agreement

Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System and Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor have signed an affiliation agreement that will pave the way for collaboration between the organizations.

The first joint venture between the systems will integrate pediatric services offered through Lansing-based Sparrow Children's Center and Michigan Medicine's C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.

"It's a privilege to partner with Sparrow to provide care for children and families in the communities of Mid-Michigan," said Chris Dickinson, MD, interim executive director of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. "Our commitment is always to keep care close to home for families, and this relationship will help us do that."

For the second affiliation project, Michigan Medicine will make a minority investment in Sparrow's health plan. Both systems will appoint representatives to an oversight committee that will make decisions about all proposed cooperative agreements.
