Sentara Halifax President Chris Lumsden said the hospital saw a significant increase in emergency department visits in February. As a result, the hospital subcontracted EmCare to add supplemental staff as needed.
An EmCare spokesperson told The Gazette-Virginian Sentara Halifax’s current emergency staff will remain at the same level.
Mr. Lumsden said EmCare contracts with four Sentara facilities.
