Rochester General, Unity Health Unveil New Name After Merger

The recently merged Rochester (N.Y.) General Hospital System and Unity Health System, also based in Rochester, have named their new organization Rochester Regional Health System, according to a Democrat & Chronicle report.

Rochester General and Unity initially entered merger talks in April 2013, and the merger of the two hospitals was finalized on July 1.

Leadership of the new health system decided on the name Rochester Regional Health System because they felt it adequately represents the system as a regional provider and offered familiarity to patients, according to the report.
