Silverton CEO Rick Cagen recommended the board consider an affiliation due to increasing financial pressures. The hospital’s operating margin is about 1 percent, which is not enough to maintain its facilities, update equipment and invest in capital, according to the report.
Silverton has already partnered with Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health for its telemedicine program. However, the hospital is seeking input from the medical community to determine whether another partnership is appropriate.
