The two companies will form the basis of Quest’s first national center of excellence in precision diagnostics for oncology.
As part of the transaction, Quest will become the preferred provider for full-range inpatient and outpatient services for several organizations that previously owned, or partially owned, the laboratory operations. This includes 12 hospitals belonging to Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health and roughly 1,400 independent physicians affiliated with The US Oncology Network in The Woodlands, Texas.
Quest signed definitive agreements to purchase the laboratories June 12.
