The $98 million Oklahoma Heart Hospital South, with 46 beds and capacity to expand to 62 beds, is under construction and is set to open Jan. 18.

The facility is going up on the southeast side of the metro area, near Tinker Air Force Base, prompting Retired General William Bowden to comment to the commissioners: “I think it’s very unfair to the military, whether active duty or retired, that there’s not a nearby emergency room or hospital.”
