Tulepo-based North Mississippi Health Services has signed a long-term lease agreement to operate Northwest Regional Health in Winfield, Ala., effective May 1.
Northwest Regional Health, a 49-bed acute care facility, will be NMHS’ second hospital in Marion County. The health system also operates North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton.
“This long-term relationship to operate Northwest Regional Health represents a significant opportunity to improve access to healthcare services in the northwest region of Alabama,” NMHS CEO Shane Spees said in a March 27 news release. “By bringing Northwest Regional Health into the NMHS health system, we can enhance existing services and introduce new services that will benefit both hospitals in the county, and most importantly, the residents of Marion and surrounding counties.”
The partnership also paves the way for combining expertise and resources to improve access to quality care and provide more comprehensive care to the community, according to the health system.
“This collaboration will also enable us to streamline operations, share best practices and leverage advanced medical technologies to better serve patients at Northwest Regional Health,” Northwest Regional Health CEO Cathy Mitchell said.
