Officials said the goal of the expanded relationship is to place a stronger emphasis on sports medicine services and provide more internship and employment opportunities. As part of the agreement, Mission Health will also provide more scholarships for students currently attending or who plan to attend UNC Asheville.

“From hands-on work experience for our students to everyday wellness initiatives for our faculty and staff, this renewed partnership will make a big difference for our entire campus community,” said UNC Asheville Chancellor Mary Grant. “Education and healthcare are both essential pieces of a successful and vibrant community and Mission Health has long been an important partner for UNC Asheville. We thank them for their continued support.”
