Michigan’s Munson Healthcare Ends Merger Talks With Spectrum

Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare has announced it will not move forward with a merger with Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Munson Health, according to a Traverse City Record-Eagle report.

Munson’s CEO Ed Ness said the health system wanted to explore other options, such as an affiliation, with other health systems and decided to end merger discussions with Spectrum as a result. At the end of August, University of Michigan Health Systems approached Munson about a possible affiliation as an alternative to a Spectrum merger.

Munson and Spectrum began discussing a merger in January.
