Mercy Health hospital, Prima Healthcare to merge

Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown (Ohio) Hospital signed a letter of intent March 15 to integrate Prima Healthcare, an independent physician practice with offices in Salem, Columbiana and Boardman, Ohio, and its providers into the system.

Mercy Health officials said the goal of the integration is to optimize coordination of care, enhance communication and enrich patient experience at all points of care.

Officials expect to finalize the agreement during the third quarter of 2018. During the coming months, representatives from both organizations will work to smooth the transition and complete the credentialing process for Prima Healthcare providers.
