Mayor's office reaches out to dozens of medical groups to operate shuttered Ohio hospital

The Massillon, Ohio, mayor's office reportedly sent dozens of letters to medical groups potentially interested in reopening Massillon-based Affinity Medical Center, which closed last month, according to CantonRep.com.

A city official confirmed to the publication about 40 letters were distributed, with the bulk of the memos sent to Ohio-based medical organizations.

The city representative told CantonRep.com officials have been negotiating with several interested parties, but noted "there's nothing to bring forward" to the city council "at this time."

One organization that reached out to the mayor's office is led by Elizabeth Pruitt, the former interim CEO of Affinity Medical Center. Ms. Pruitt's proposal recommends a management team to restart and oversee hospital operations on an interim basis. She confirmed the submitted proposal to The Independent, but said the offer "doesn't have an opportunity unless we have an investment group to support it," according to CantonRep.com.
