Memorial Health looks to sell 112-bed nursing facility

Marysville, Ohio-based Memorial Health is looking to sell its 112-bed Marysville-based Memorial Gables Nursing Home and Rehabilitation facility.

The decision comes after continued discussions with Memorial Health's board of trustees about the independent health system's "future strategic direction," according to a March 12 Memorial Health news release shared with Becker's.

"Nationally, hospitals have begun reevaluating the services they provide to ensure patients receive the best and highest quality care across the health continuum," the release said. "Additionally, aging care communities across the country continue to face increased financial difficulties and Memorial Gables is no exception, reporting significant losses."

Union County commissioners are also lending guidance in the search for a new owner, as the county owns the facility.

Memorial Health will only consider owners that are committed to maintaining Memorial Gables' workforce and keeping the facility dedicated to senior living.

"Nothing changes for residents or employees during this search," the release said. "New ownership explorations often take many months, and after a partner is found there are extensive discussions to be had before any agreement can be finalized."

Memorial Health comprises Marysville-based Memorial Hospital; multiple satellite outpatient locations; Memorial Gables; Memorial Medical Group, which features a 53-provider network; and the Memorial Health Foundation.
