The consolidation of these previous competitor hospitals, located only 12 miles apart in South Central Massachusetts, will give Hubbard the opportunity to stabilize its operation as Hubbard has been experiencing financial instability for several years, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. The hospital reported an operating loss of more than $3.6 million for the last two years, and has recently submitted a request for short-term aid to the state.
Two Harrington managers will supervise on-site at Hubbard and Harrington will be the managing agent of Hubbard’s board of directors, according to the press release.
