Kathryn Krause Rooney, the chairwoman of Richmond University’s board of trustees, told the Staten Island Advance, the community standalone hospital model is “not the future of healthcare.
“The days of a small hospital by itself are over,” she said. “We need to move toward a partnership in the next year or two. That’s the future. A collaboration is important, and we are open to a collaboration that makes sense for Richmond University Medical Center and for the Staten Island community.”
RUMC and Maimonides officials did not disclose any other details, such as if a letter of intent had been reached or when a deal would be announced.
