Kootenai Health to acquire 2 hospitals

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho-based Kootenai Health has entered into a letter of intent to acquire two critical access hospitals from Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health.

Under the agreement, Kootenai Health will acquire Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics in Orofino, Idaho, and St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics in Cottonwood, Idaho.

Over the next several months, the organizations will finalize the terms of the agreement, develop a transition plan and seek board approval.

The organizations expect the transaction to close in early 2020.
