Here are three things to know about the proposed affiliation.

1. The proposed affiliation would provide “a powerful synergy of a community-based provider and academic health system,” according to both organizations.

2. Kevin Poorten, president and CEO of KishHealth System, said in a statement that the proposed affiliation positions the system to serve the future needs of its patients and community.

3. During the next several months, KishHealth and Northwestern Memorial HealthCare will further define the affiliation, which remains subject to regulatory review and approval.
