Keokuk Health Systems, UnityPoint Health to formalize affiliation

Keokuk (Iowa) Health Systems and Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health will sign a formal affiliation agreement Thursday, according to the Fort Madison Daily Democrat.

Under the terms of the agreement, UnityPoint Health will become the sole corporate member of KHS and provide KHS officials management, operational and infrastructure support. UnityPoint Health will also take financial responsibility for initial capital investments, ongoing capital needs and operating costs at KHS, according to the article.

As part of the agreement, Quincy (Ill.) Medical Group, an independent organization affiliated with UnityPoint Health, will also expand the number of clinical services the organization provides to KHS.

KHS and UnityPoint Health signed a nonbinding agreement to begin discussing a potential affiliation in October.
