UMC Health board of directors approved the agreement Monday. The deal calls for the creation of a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Lubbock.
Officials said construction on the hospital will begin in spring 2018, and the facility will be operational in spring 2019.
The joint venture is expected to provide up to 116 full-time positions for residents.
The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.
