Health industry transactions ramped up in July

After a springtime lull, the healthcare industry saw transaction volumes bounce back in July, according to Bloomberg Law.

In July there were 161 transactions announced or closed in the industry, according to a list of deals prepared for Bloomberg Law by investment bankers at ECG Management Consultants and Provident Healthcare Partners.

The physician practices and services sector announced or closed 31 deals in July, making it the most deal-heavy in the health industry. Additionally, 12 hospitals and health systems announced or completed deals, 21 medical device and suppliers announced or completed deals, and five home care and hospice companies announced or closed deals.

In total, 747 deals have been announced or completed in the healthcare sector this year. July saw the most.

"Low interest rates and favorable macroeconomic conditions" will keep transactions activity booming for the rest of this year, Hector Torres, a principal at ECG in Chicago, told Bloomberg Law.
