Under a definitive agreement between St. Louis-based Ascension and Allegan Healthcare Group, Allegan’s physician practices and hospital foundation will also become part of Ascension Michigan.
Ascension Michigan includes a hospital in Kalamazoo, which is roughly 30 miles from Allegan General Hospital. After the transaction is completed, Allegan will adopt Ascension’s brand.
“The addition of Allegan General Hospital to Ascension Michigan will strengthen healthcare access and delivery for area residents and ensure the continued provision of high quality healthcare well into the future,” Tim Stover, MD, interim ministry market executive for Ascension Michigan, said in a press release. “Ascension Michigan looks forward to working closely with Allegan care providers to provide mission-inspired, best-practice care to those we are so privileged to serve across west Michigan.”
