After filing for Chapter 9 bankruptcy earlier this year, Natchez Regional signed a definitive agreement to allow CHS to acquire the medical center’s assets for $18 million in July.
A CHS subsidiary owns and operates 101-bed Natchez (Miss.) Community Hospital. CHS has plans to consolidate the two hospitals to create a more efficient delivery system.
“We see considerable opportunity to support the physicians and employees of these hospitals as they work together to create a sustainable, successful healthcare system,” said Wayne T. Smith, chairman and CEO of CHS. “The combination of these facilities ultimately will result in an operationally strong hospital, a more coordinated approach to patient care, and enhanced access to a wide array of quality health services for local residents.”
