The LifePoint National Quality Program — to which CVMC belongs — is the result of a collaboration between Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System. Hospitals and health systems enrolled in the program work with Duke and LifePoint officials to create a plan to improve quality of care and to establish long-term solutions to sustain results.

To become a Duke LifePoint Quality Affiliate, CVMC worked to launch a variety of new initiatives to engage patients and their families, enhance safety and improve the quality of care for patients. The medical center also instituted innovative tactical approaches such as bedside shift reporting to ensure clear communication between patients and staff and daily executive patient safety rounding to ensure that executives, physicians and staff engaged with patients about quality and patient safety measures.
