The divesture of Riverview is required under an agreement CHS entered into with the Federal Trade Commission following CHS’ acquisition of Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates in January.
The transaction requires approval from the FTC, and the deal is expected to be finalized in early 2015.
Under CHS’ agreement with the FTC, the system was also required to divest 116-bed Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, S.C. In October, CHS entered into a definitive agreement to sell Carolina Pines to Capella Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn.
