The deal, first announced in November, is part of Franklin, Tenn.-based CHS’ $1 billion divestiture plan. Memorial Health had previously collaborated with the 153-bed hospital in various service areas in the region, including oncology, neurology, neuro-interventional radiology, radiology, infectious disease and cardiology.

“The close of this transaction allows us to build on the collaborative foundation we’ve shared with Merit Health Biloxi and continue shaping the future of healthcare on the Gulf Coast,” Memorial Health System President and CEO Kent Nicaud said in a Jan. 31 news release.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With the acquisition of Merit Health Biloxi, Memorial is now a three-hospital system.

Ahead of the acquisition, Memorial named Kristian Spear administrator of the hospital. She most recently served as Memorial Health’s clinical director.
