CHS completes divestiture of 5 Pennsylvania hospitals

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems finalized its divestiture of five Pennsylvania hospitals to West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health — formerly Reading Health System — Oct. 1.

The hospitals involved in the transaction include:

  • 169-bed Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville
  • 151-bed Phoenixville Hospital
  • 232-bed Pottstown Memorial Medical Center
  • 63-bed Jennersville Regional Hospital in West Grove
  • 148-bed Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia

The five hospitals represent a portion of the 30 planned hospital divestitures CHS announced during a second quarter 2017 earnings call.

The transaction was announced in May. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
