Fletcher Allen Partners is the parent organization of Fletcher Allen Health Care, also in Burlington, and Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
The purpose of the proposed affiliation is to establish a coordinated, highly integrated healthcare system that will improve quality, increase access and lower costs of healthcare in the Vermont and upstate New York communities served by all four hospitals.
CVPH and ECH signed a letter of intent for the affiliation March 26. The letter of intent was approved by the boards of both Fletcher Allen Partners and Community Providers in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the parent organization of CVPH and ECH. The hospitals hope that the legal and regulatory approvals can be completed and the proposed affiliation effective later this year, according to the report.
