Behavioral health center to cut ties with Baptist Health Care

Lakeview Center, a behavioral health provider in Pensacola, Fla., plans to end its affiliation with Pensacola-based Baptist Health Care, according to the Pensacola News Journal

Lakeview Center and Baptist Health attributed the split to a changing healthcare landscape and growth at both organizations. They have been affiliated since 1996.

Lakeview Center CEO Allison Hill said that it makes more sense to disaffiliate as the behavioral health company has evolved a lot over the past 25 years.

"Today, we're a $300 million organization with 3,000 team members in 19 states, and the requirements of our business have just changed drastically over the years," Ms. Hill told the News Journal. "The decisions that you have to make in the hospital and healthcare space are just different than the human services space."

Baptist Health Care spokesperson Kathy Bowers told the News Journal that the change will not affect patient care and that a future as separate entities will be better for the patients served.

"Since affiliating, our organizations have grown in size, scope and complexity," Ms. Bowers said. "A future as two separate entities is best for those we serve. Both organizations are excited about this positive development that improves our ability to focus on the populations we serve."
