Under a previous partnership agreement, students in the Washburn University School of Nursing were able to gain clinical experience at the hospital.
However, Kansas City-based University of Kansas Health System and Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services’ joint proposal to acquire the hospital has left students and faculty wondering if the partnership will continue.
Washburn School of Nursing Dean Monica Scheibmeir, PhD, told KSNT News the university may be privy to various “opportunities that were not available [under St. Francis Health’s previous] leadership.”
A spokesperson for KU Health System told KSNT News the partnership issue “[is] still being decided.”
