Sources familiar with the matter said negotiations between HCA and the independent hospital are still ongoing, but that the hospital has reportedly scheduled a special board meeting Wednesday evening, according to the report.

If the deal is finalized, sources told WWL-4 physicians and staff would continue in their positions, according to the report. The potential partnership would also need approval from the Jefferson Parish Council.

HCA and EJGH officials previously entered into negotiations in 2013. However, HCA broke of discussions in 2015 citing a lengthy process that was “going nowhere,” according to the report.
